Amit Shah Visits Pahalgam Terror Site, Pays Tribute To Victims As Kashmir Valley Observes Shutdown

As the nation reels from the horror of Tuesday's terror attack in Pahalgam, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday visited the Baisaran meadow — the very site where the massacre of innocent tourists took place, leaving the country in shock and sorrow.

Shah arrived at the scene via helicopter amid tight security. The once serene meadow now bears the scars of terror, with Army personnel deployed across the region to prevent any further threat.

Earlier in the day, the Home Minister laid a wreath outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar, honouring the victims in a solemn tribute. He also met the grieving families, their faces marked by unbearable sorrow as they pleaded for justice and shared the anguish of their immense loss.

Congress MP KC Venugopal and Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra also attended the tribute ceremony, joining the chorus of national mourning and outrage.

The attack, which unfolded in the picturesque Anantnag district, has been described as the most severe terror incident in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Once a haven of tranquillity, Pahalgam has now become a symbol of collective grief.

In a rare show of unity, political parties and local traders' unions have called for a complete shutdown across the Kashmir valley.
