In a spirited address at the Mahagathbandhan rally in East Champaran’s Motihari on Wednesday, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav declared that the ongoing Bihar Assembly election would mark a turning point for the state. Speaking in support of the alliance’s candidate, Yadav said, “Half of Bihar is voting today, while the other half awaits its turn. This election will bring significant change.”

Taking a sharp dig at the BJP, Akhilesh mocked the party’s jibes at the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) iconic lantern symbol. “They say the lantern is outdated—we’ll fit an LED in it,” he quipped, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Yadav accused the BJP of relying on what he termed “B, C, and P teams,” referring to “backup parties,” the “Election Commission party,” and a mysterious new “P team” that he alleged was influencing the election process.

Praising RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh said Bihar’s youth finally had a leader committed to creating jobs. “Tejashwi will be the Chief Minister who brings employment to Bihar,” he asserted, also acknowledging the support of Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) in strengthening the Mahagathbandhan alliance.

Turning his focus to everyday struggles, the SP chief slammed the BJP over inflation, saying prices of essential goods have skyrocketed. “Even a Parle biscuit has shrunk in size, while petrol and diesel prices continue to soar. Ask your elders how cheap two-wheelers once were,” he remarked, accusing the ruling party of dividing people for political gains.
