Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission, alleging that it is functioning under the influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) instead of working as an impartial constitutional body.
Speaking at a public gathering in Bihar, Yadav said that citizens had expected the Election Commission to safeguard the right to vote and protect the Constitution. However, according to him, the institution has failed in its duty. “The way the Commission is functioning in collusion with the BJP, it no longer looks like an Election Commission but a ‘Jugad Commission’,” Yadav charged.
He also praised Bihar’s Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, for his efforts in providing employment opportunities to the state’s youth, contrasting it with earlier times when large-scale migration was the norm. “Earlier, the youth of Bihar had no option but to migrate for jobs. Tejashwi Yadav has given them employment. If he comes to power this time, migration of unemployed youth will stop. Instead, it will be the BJP that faces political migration,” Akhilesh said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
