Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of shielding industrialist Gautam Adani from corruption allegations in the United States. Speaking at an interaction with youth in Lalganj, Raebareli, Gandhi criticized Modi for allegedly refusing to address the issue with then-US President Donald Trump.
“PM Modi told the American press that Adani is my friend and I will not ask the US President regarding him. There are corruption charges against industrialist Gautam Adani in America, and PM Modi says it is a personal matter. If he were a true Prime Minister of India, he would have discussed this with the American President. He should have launched an inquiry against Adani,” Gandhi said.

His remarks reignited the Adani-Modi cronyism debate, with the opposition accusing the Prime Minister of prioritizing personal ties over national interests. The Congress has long accused the Modi government of favoritism towards Adani, citing alleged irregularities in multiple business deals.
