Senior journalist and media entrepreneur Saurabh Dwivedi is poised to take charge of the Hindi vertical of The Indian Express, marking a significant development in India’s evolving news landscape. According to reports, Dwivedi will play a key role in shaping the newspaper’s Hindi operations, with responsibilities spanning editorial vision, digital video initiatives, and the e-paper ecosystem.
Sources indicate that The Indian Express is betting on Dwivedi’s deep understanding of Hindi journalism and digital storytelling to broaden its reach among Hindi-speaking readers across the country. The move is seen as part of a larger strategy to translate the publication’s established English journalism into a strong, credible Hindi platform.
Dwivedi recently ended his long association with the India Today Group, where he spent over a decade building influential Hindi media brands. Announcing his exit earlier this month, he wrote on social media, “Every journey reaches a pause before the next turn. I am grateful for everything I learned here.” He also hinted at a new beginning by sharing a poetic couplet, suggesting that the transition was both thoughtful and intentional.
As the founding editor of The Lallantop, Dwivedi transformed the platform into one of India’s most recognisable Hindi digital news brands, attracting massive audiences across social media and video platforms. His work helped redefine how serious journalism could connect with young and first-time news consumers in the Hindi heartland.
Reacting to his departure, India Today Group Vice Chairperson Kalli Purie praised Dwivedi’s contribution, saying, “Saurabh built something truly meaningful. His work reshaped Hindi digital journalism and inspired an entire generation of storytellers.” She added that his desire to explore new creative challenges was discussed internally and respected.
