Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and 30, to launch and inaugurate a series of key development projects and participate in public engagements.
On May 29, the Prime Minister will begin his day in Sikkim, attending the “Sikkim@50: Where Progress meets purpose and nature nurtures growth” programme at 11:00 am. Marking 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood, the programme will celebrate the state’s cultural legacy, natural beauty, and developmental achievements under the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim.”
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several development projects, including:
- A 500-bedded District Hospital in Namchi, worth over ₹750 crore.
- Passenger Ropeway at Sangachoeling, Pelling in Gyalshing District.
- Statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok District.
He will also release a commemorative coin, souvenir coin, and stamp celebrating Sikkim’s 50 years of statehood.
Later, at 2:15 pm, PM Modi will reach West Bengal’s Alipurduar to lay the foundation stone for a City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. Valued at over ₹1,010 crore, the project will bring piped natural gas (PNG) to over 2.5 lakh homes, benefit 100+ commercial establishments, and enable CNG availability through 19 stations, creating green energy access and jobs.
At 5:45 pm, the Prime Minister will arrive in Patna, Bihar, to inaugurate the new terminal building of Patna Airport, built at a cost of approximately ₹1,200 crore. The terminal will handle up to 1 crore passengers annually. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the civil enclave of Bihta Airport worth over ₹1,410 crore, which will serve as an aviation hub near educational institutions like IIT Patna and the upcoming NIT campus.
On May 30, PM Modi will visit Karakat in Bihar to inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate projects worth over ₹48,520 crore. Notable projects include:
- Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-II (3x800 MW) in Aurangabad, worth ₹29,930 crore, to enhance energy security and boost industrial growth in eastern India.
- Key highway infrastructure projects like four-laning of Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section (NH-119A), six-laning of Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway (NH-319B), and the construction of a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli.
- The Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH–22 and the Gopalganj Town elevated highway on NH–27.
Later that afternoon, PM Modi will travel to Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, where at around 2:45 pm, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development works worth approximately ₹20,900 crore, followed by a public address.
The visit reflects the government’s push for infrastructure, energy, health, and connectivity, with a combined investment of over ₹69,000 crore across four states.
