Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations across 18 states and union territories today as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), a transformative initiative to modernize more than 1,300 railway stations across India.
The redeveloped stations, upgraded at a cumulative cost of around ₹1,100 crore, are spread across 86 districts in states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme envisions modern transport hubs with improved passenger amenities, regional architectural elements, and sustainable design. Key upgrades include better station access, enhanced waiting halls, modern ticketing facilities, improved lighting, green initiatives, and multi-modal connectivity.
PM Modi’s Visit to Rajasthan
During his visit to Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to flag off a new express train between Bikaner and Mumbai. In addition, he will visit the Karni Mata temple in Deshnok and inaugurate the redeveloped Deshnok railway station, one of the 103 stations under the ABSS project.
