PM Modi Calls For Probe As Pakistani Support For Indian Leaders Rahul Gandhi And Arvind Kejriwal Sparks Controversy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded sharply to the ostensible support shown by a Pakistani leader for Congress's Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He called it a "very serious matter" that warrants investigation but refrained from making a direct comment due to his position. "I don't think I should comment on such topics from the position I am in, but I can understand your concern," he said to IANS.

The issue arose over the weekend as Delhi voted in the elections. Former Pakistan minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, who previously praised Rahul Gandhi in a video, also extended his support to Arvind Kejriwal. This prompted a stern response from Prime Minister Modi.

"I don't know why only a few people are liked by those who have enmity with us, why there are only a few people in whose support voices are raised from there," PM Modi told IANS. He emphasized that the Indian voter is mature and that external statements would not influence the country's elections. "The election is of India and India's democracy is very mature, has healthy traditions and the voters of India are also not the voters who are influenced by any outside activities," he said.

Chaudhry, a minister in Imran Khan's cabinet, had earlier applauded Kejriwal's interim bail from the Supreme Court, saying, "Modi G Lost another battle #Kejriwal released? good news for moderate India," in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. He later commented on a photo of Kejriwal and his family at a polling booth, wishing for peace and harmony to triumph over hate and extremism.

Kejriwal responded sharply to Chaudhry's comments. "Chaudhry Sahib, I and the people of my country are capable of solving our own problems. We don't need your tweet. Right now, Pakistan is in a terrible state. You handle your own country," he posted.
