Tension simmered in Mira-Bhayandar as traders staged a protest over the recent assault of a local businessman. The protest, which saw several shops shuttered in solidarity, was met with assurances from the police that swift action had already been taken against those responsible.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prakash Gaikwad addressed the media and the gathered protesters, stating, “Day before yesterday, a businessman was assaulted. An FIR was lodged in this matter. We have taken action against seven people involved.”
According to officials, the incident, which triggered strong reactions from the local business community, occurred earlier this week when a group allegedly attacked a shop owner following a disagreement over language use. The situation escalated into a broader outcry against intimidation and violence.
