In a significant political development in Tamil Nadu, veteran AIADMK leader and former state minister KA Sengottaiyan has officially joined the Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), the party launched by actor and political newcomer Vijay. The induction marks one of the biggest additions to TVK since its formation, signaling a growing shift in the state’s political dynamics ahead of upcoming elections.
Welcoming the senior leader into the party, TVK chief Vijay issued a heartfelt statement highlighting Sengottaiyan’s long and influential political journey. Praising his decades of service within the AIADMK, Vijay said the party would greatly benefit from his experience and grassroots connect.
Quoting the actor-politician, TVK released the following message: "Sengottaiyan joined with MGR’s at the age of 20, having earned his trust. At that young age, he took on the significant responsibility of becoming an MLA. Within that movement, he was someone trusted by both the great leaders MGR and Jayalalithaa in the political arena. After having remained in the same movement for 50 years, I warmly welcome brother Sengottaiyan along with everyone who has joined him to work with us, with the confidence that his political experience and decades of field work will be a great strength to our Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam."
Sengottaiyan, known for his long-standing loyalty to the AIADMK and his close association with both MGR and Jayalalithaa, brings with him nearly five decades of political experience, having served as MLA multiple times and held key ministerial portfolios including Education, Agriculture, and Transport.
