‘Baseless, Fake News’: Defence Officials Deny Damage To India’s S-400 System Amid Pakistan Tensions

Amid rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) following Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces have firmly denied reports suggesting damage to the country’s advanced S-400 air defence system. The clarification comes in the wake of viral claims circulating online that one of the systems may have been hit during Pakistan’s drone and missile offensive.

“News reports of destruction or any damage to a S-400 system are baseless, fake news,” defence officials said, putting to rest the speculation surrounding one of India’s most sophisticated defence assets.

The denial follows India’s strong military retaliation after Pakistan launched attacks on 26 locations across India, according to reports from ANI. In response, India carried out precision strikes on four Pakistani airbases in the early hours of Saturday, with intermittent firing still being reported at multiple locations along the LoC.

In a statement quoted by ANI, the Ministry of Defence confirmed a widespread drone threat:

“Drones have been sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC with Pakistan. These include suspected armed drones. The locations include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet and Lakhi Nala.”

The statement further added, “Regrettably, an armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, resulting in injuries to members of a local family. The injured have been provided medical assistance and the area has been sanitised by security forces.”

The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert, closely monitoring the situation and deploying counter-drone systems to neutralise any aerial threats.

“The situation is under close and constant watch & prompt action is being taken wherever necessary. While there is no need for panic, heightened vigilance and precaution are essential.”

Authorities have urged residents, particularly in border regions, to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary movement, and strictly follow official advisories.

As both nations grapple with a sharp escalation, India has made it clear that its defence infrastructure, including the S-400 system, remains intact and fully operational, countering misinformation being circulated online.
