Just days after expressing strong opposition to the Centre’s all-party foreign delegations, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Tuesday made a significant U-turn, announcing its support for India’s global efforts against terrorism. The shift came following a phone call from Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to party chief Uddhav Thackeray, seeking cooperation on the matter.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Sena (UBT) stated, “Union Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke to Uddhav Thackeray over the telephone on Sunday to discuss his party's participation in the all-party delegations visiting various countries.”

The party said it had received assurance that the delegations were not politically motivated, but were meant to present India’s stand against terrorism on the international stage. “On being reassured, we have also assured the government that we will do what is right and what is needed for our country via this delegation,” the statement added.

The Sena (UBT) also emphasized the importance of proper communication and protocol from the Centre to avoid future misunderstandings. “The government must inform all political parties in advance to avoid chaos and mismanagement,” it said.

As a gesture of support, Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi will represent the party in these international delegations, joining lawmakers from various other parties.

The development comes in stark contrast to remarks made earlier by Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sanjay Raut, who had criticized the government’s initiative. On Sunday, Raut had said that INDIA bloc parties should boycott the delegations, accusing the Centre of trying to use them to defend its “sins and crimes” on global platforms.
